Preparing Your Data

Example of a formatted spreadsheet. Note that rows can be left blank if the data isn't applicable.

To prepare your file, you must keep your data in a spreadsheet document (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheets). Check to be sure that the first row of your CSV file contains column names (i.e. Title, Description), and that every row has the same number of columns. In dealing easily with Item Types, make one spreadsheet with data from the same Item Type (i.e. Website, or Text), so that you can apply that quickly when you import the CSV file.

NOTE: not all CSV files may be compatible, so you might have to copy-paste your into a different spreadsheet document.
